Denton approves new school zoning borders

Changes will affect residents in Corinth, TX. Corinth is served by Denton ISD. Some issues at the board meeting were related to Hawk Elementary, which is located in Oakmont. Hawk, already at maximum attendance will lose some part of Oakmont to Nelson Elementary. Some parents are not happy about it. One of the reason is safety - Nelson is located on busy (but tucked away) Teasley soon to become extension of 2499. Another Oakmont is in the walking distance to both Crownover and Hawk and many children enjoy their daily bike rides to school while parents feel safe. It's a pity that zoning and rezoning is done so often and not planned at least 5 years ahead, as it affects so many children and parents. For all details on it go directly to Denton ISD website.

Dendon ISD Board Meeting and Vote

Corinth is currently served by Denton ISD. With the area's growth a new elementary school is opening every year. This year we will have rezoning issues once again. With a new school opening next season - named in honor of Ms. Olive Stephens - current students of Hawk and Pecan Creek Elementary will be affected. If you have a comment regarding this issue please post in on this blog. With this said and knowing that Hawk Elementary is already known to be a great place for kids - I would think that Fairway Vista subdivision of Oakmont, located just across from Hawk might be a desirable place for some families who are not willing to risk their children's schooling change. (Not to say anything negative at all about any new school). I think majority of people are simply afraid - if this is a right word - of unknown, rather than thinking it will be worse. With this said kids are even more so uncomfortable of change. However, keep in mind kids, thankfully, adjust really fast. Here is the link to current listings in Fairway Vista, Corinth TX.
